Campers will spend their days in the great outdoors and their nights curled up in bunk beds. Every day will bring your child the chance to try something exciting and new like picking up a bow and arrow for the first time, riding on the horse trails or canoeing to our island.
Our program also emphasizes cabin life and its role in teaching campers self-reliance, cooperation and decision making away from home. The many rewards of Camp Jorn include a healthy attitude, more confidence and all the wisdom gained from an enriching experience.
Your camper's day is structured to encourage individual interests, cabin group development and large group activity.
Campers spent the morning in individual, instructional classes. Check out the Activities page for more details.
In the afternoon, campers participate in cabin group activities. Campers, as a group, decide what activities they will do. There are over 20 possible choices so campers can practice teamwork and group decision-making.
The evenings are for all-camp get togethers where we play games like Well Fargo, Granny's Candy and Gold Rush. We also have campfires, staff skits, sock hop and our Friendship Fire on Friday night (weather permitting).
Cabins Campers bunk in either cabins or platform tents with 6-10 other campers, a counselor and a junior counselor. Campers are assigned by age, grade and gender with younger groups starting in deluxe cabins progressing to older groups in platform tents. Our KYBO is a modern washroom facility centrally located.
Meals Campers eat all meals with their cabin group in our Dining Hall. They will take turns being Hoppers (those who help with setup and cleanup of the cabin table). Our menu is nutritionally balanced and designed to appeal to most appetites. Along with meal entrees, we have a full cereal bar at breakfast and a salad bar at lunch and dinner.
